“Walk, Run or Crawl your way to the finish line” on our challenging over sand 3K or 6K event located at the beautiful Sandy Neck Beach Park! This beach park boasts some of the most beautiful Cape Cod scenery and both routes take you on an off road journey across the front beach, through the dunes, and back down the marsh trail to the finish line. Sign up early to ensure your spot on the sand and help us fund the educations of our future marine biologists!

Parking Information: Parking Lot at Sandy Neck Beach Park, front gate attendant will direct you upon arrival

Packet Pickup & Check In: Saturday October 8, 2016 arting at 11:00AM in front of Bath House located in parking lot, PHOTO ID OF PERSON WHO SIGNED WAIVER IS NEEDED FOR CHECK IN

What to Bring: Sunscreen; bug spray--there are ticks present on this beach--for exposed skin use something that is DEET based, for clothing--use permethrin; appropriate clothing (this is a rain or shine event so dress appropraitely for your comfort).

Course Info: This is a barrier beach, so please stay on the marked course when travelling through the dunes to the marsh trail (this will also minimize the chances of getting ticks and encountering poison ivy). Terrain across the front beach is hard and soft sand with rocks, terrain across the dunes is mostly soft sand with varying inclines. Along the marsh trail is hard and soft sand, varying inclines and a beautiful view of Barnstable Harbor's vast marshes. There is a brief sprint up the paved road before finishing the race back in the parking lot where you checked in. A challenging race indeed! There will be water stations at the beginning and ends of each of the trails, along with snacks and waters at the end of the race. 

Proceeds benefit the MA Shellfish Officers Association Scholarship Fund. The Association, a non-profit educational and professional organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the welfare of the shellfisheries in the Commonwealth, has established an award program for high school seniors actively pursuing a degree in marine biology and residing in a coastal town or city that sponsors an MDOA representative.
