Timing is everything, as the saying goes. Fifteen years ago, Doug and I were ahead of the curve with the local food movement. In 2004 the term locavore had yet to be coined and most people (including us) did not know what CSA stood for, let alone where to sign up for a local farm share. Yet, when we read about Edible Ojai in Saveur magazine that winter, launching a publication that “celebrates the abundance of local food season by season” seemed like the ideal lifestyle move for us at the time. We would get to explore our new community and share our discoveries with our fellow Cape Codders. And what an amazing time we’ve had: we’ve met some inspiring people, enjoyed some incredible meals and experienced memories of a lifetime. But the time now feels right to hand over Edible Cape Cod to new owners who can bring a fresh perspective and breathe new life into the magazine. Larry and Cori Egan need no introduction to readers of this magazine. Larry has been a regular contributor since 2012 and has been one of my most favorite “voices” of the magazine. Cori came on board a year later as a photographer. Her photos have graced half a dozen covers since 2016. Doug and I know that we are leaving our creation in good hands and we look forward to watching them take it to the next level.

Dianne Langeland

“Thank you” seems far too simple a sentiment to express the gratitude Cori and I have for Doug and Dianne. They are two of the kindest and most generous people we have come to know, and the friendship and support they have given to us over the years has been astounding. The entire farm-to-table movement is intrinsically tied to the establishment of Edible magazines throughout the country. It is a testament to Doug and Dianne’s keen foresight of the wonderful stories that awaited them (and needed to be told) when they climbed on board, rolled up their sleeves and created Edible Cape Cod fifteen years ago. Now, here we are. Taking up the mantle of championing our fellow Cape Codders in their endeavors to bring the rest of us the finest, freshest and most local fare. We will continue to celebrate the passion and drive with which they toil. We’ll maintain this magnificent spotlight, and we’ll do it with the same established troop of storytellers that we’ve all grown to love, with voices as distinctive as their subject matter.

So, a few droplets of ink are re-aligned on this particular page. The mission of Edible Cape Cod, however, remains the same. With your continued support and that of our loyal business partners, this ship sails onward. And believe me, we’ll take all the support we can get. We have a lot to learn and can’t wait to learn it. After all, we’re those people (when deciding to take this leap), who took three days to figure out what went bad in the refrigerator!

And away we go…
