Every year Brewmaster Todd Marcus squirrels away a small supply of Cape Cod Beer’s “Old Man Winter” seasonal offering and barrel ages it for six months in anticipation of the annual tradition of releasing a limited edition beer, “Christmas in July.” Each year the barrel the beer is aged in varies, resulting in subtle changes to the beer’s flavor profile each summer, and to the event that surrounds the release itself.

This year Truro Vineyards + South Hollow Spirits offered up rum barrels for the aging process. Their Twenty Boat Amber Rum has a complexity that is the result of a blended aging process that produces a spirit full with the aromas and flavors of vanilla, strong caramel nuttiness and rich minerality. Twice distilled in small batches, Amber Rum is made from molasses and sugarcane juice, with a lingering finish that brings sweet notes of butterscotch, balanced with earthy tobacco.

Christmas in July lasts all day with special guests throughout the afternoon. Summer Santa swings in from his tropical vacation to take pictures with lucky brewery visitors from 3 -5 pm. Truro Vineyards + South Hollow Spirits are bringing the rum to the party at the brewery, with rum flights available for purchase from 4-6pm.

“Old Man Winter is one of our most popular beers. Locals ask for it year round. Most of the time our summer visitors never get to taste it all. It’s fun for us to give people what they want but still be able to give the beer something a little new each year too.”~Todd Marcus, Brewmaster

Christmas in July will be available in 750ml bottles, with newly redesigned labels, at the brewery only and there is a max of two per customer.
